Jesse Rodriguez will take on Cristian Gonzalez for the vacant WBO flyweight title on April 8. The 12-round bout will take place in Rodriguez’s hometown of San Antonio, Texas, and will stream on DAZN. Rodriguez (17-0, 11 knockouts) had a breakthrough in 2022, a year that saw him win three fights and earn consideration as a “Fighter of the Year†nominee in several boxing publications. Gonzalez (15-1, 5 KOs), who resides in Tultitlan, Mexico, most recently fought on March 25, knocking out former title challenger Juan Alejo in the opening round. In June 2021, Gonzalez on the other hand, defeated Saul Juarez, another title challenger, by unanimous decision. but jumped two weight classes to defeat former titleholder Carlos Cuadras to win the vacant WBC world junior bantamweight title last February. Gonzalez (15-1, 5 KOs), who resides in Tultitlan, Mexico, most recently fought on March 25, knocking out former title challenger Juan Alejo in the opening round. In June 2021, Gonzalez on the other hand, defeated Saul Juarez, another title challenger, by unanimous decision. The 23-year-old is unbeaten since suffering a split decision loss to current flyweight contender Angel Ayala in May 2019. The loss to Ayala occurred in Gonzalez’s seventh fight as a pro. 54-year-old Roy Jones Jr. will meet former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in an eight-round professional boxing match on April 1 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The bout will headline a pay-per-view card promoted by UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing. The show will feature several other high profile MMA fighters in boxing matches. Pettis has knockouts and finishes at 145, 155, 170, it’s crazy what this guy has done in his career in MMA. Great striker. The former four-division world champion Jones (66-9, 47 KOs) on the other hand has not fought professionally since 2018.Â
