" I'll Be Ghana's Eleventh World Champion " Samuel Takyi

Olympic Games Bronze medalist at Tokyo 2020 and African Games Gold medalist Samuel Takyi hasn't been equivocal about his ultimate ambitions.

The imperturbable and nerveless lad aptly nicknamed the " Ring Warrior " has laid bare his audacious goal of ending Ghana's world title drought.

" I know what I'm saying. I'll be Ghana's eleventh world champion. And I'm unrelenting and undaunted in that quest," Takyi told ACE TV Boxing Reporter Samuel Opoku Amoah ( Sam Nana Gold).

Takyi, 23, currently undefeated in three professional bouts lamented about Ghana's inability to consistently churn out world beaters in recent times: " Look, it's not fine that we don't have a world champion, but I promise you, watch out for me. I'll be number eleven, he declared.

The last time Ghana had a world champion, it was Richard Commey.

He won the IBF Lightweight title in February 2019 against Isa Chaniev via a round two stoppage but lost it in December of that same year to Teofimo Lopez, also via a round two stoppage.

Since then, for over half a decade, the esteemed boxing nation that has produced ten world champions in David Kotei Poison, Azumah Nelson, Nana Yaw Konadu, Ike Quartey, Alfred Kotey, Joseph Agbeko, Joshua Clottey, Isaac Dogboe, Richard Commey and Emmanuel Tagoe, hasn't welcomed a world champion to her shores.

The likes of Sena Agbeko, Habib Ahmed, Duke Micah, Patrick Allotey among others have attempted to halt the dearth but have unfortunately fallen short.

Albeit, Samuel Takyi is poised to change that narrative. One protuberant feature of the young man's persona is his high level of confidence and self belief.

Of course, confidence alone isn't the only ingredient in the making of a world champion, but self belief is inexorable in any pursuit, and this lad exudes it copiously.

Samuel Takyi is scheduled for an eight round Super Lightweight contest at the Bukom Boxing Arena on August 31.

Considering the verve and gusto with which the Olympian airs his lofty aspirations, maybe we should pay particular attention to the " Ring Warrior " Samuel Takyi.

Yes he got everything to be a world champion and trust me he will surely be a world champion.
Dedication, discipline, confidence, self belief and the Warrior like nature of him is enough to propel to the highest echelons of boxing.
