Boxxer And BBC Announce Broadcast Deal

Following their split with Sky Sports, Boxxer will air shows on BBC platforms starting later this year.

The BBC announced today that they’ve signed a broadcast deal with Ben Shalom’s Boxxer and will air “fights from selected events on BBC Two or Three as well as on iPlayer and the BBC Sport website” starting “by the end of the year, with dates and headliners to be announced in the coming weeks.”

Per Yahoo! Sports, longtime broadcast partner Sky Sport “opted not to renew” its four-year contract with Boxxer. Their stateside partnership with NBC Universal/Peacock likewise fizzled out earlier this year with very little to show for it on either side.

This does raise the question of whether Boxxer intends to stage more shows before the BBC deal kicks in and, if so, where they’ll air. Keeping their entire roster on ice for three or four months sounds impractical.
