BREAKING NEWS: Congolese Heavyweight Dies After Knockout

A tragic piece of news getting into the weekend has it that 27-year-old Congolese Heavyweight Ardi Ndembo is deceased after being knocked out in the ring.

The Brazzaville native who is also a father of two was placed in an induced coma in the aftermath of his bout against Nestor Santana on April 5 during the Team Combat League competition.

The bout, which took place in Miami saw Ndembo lie unconscious on the canvas for several minutes before being moved to the Miami Hospital. He had been competing for the Miami Assassins of the TCL.

Later, a GoFundMe campaign was organized by Team Combat League promising to match up all the donations up to $25,000.

A statement from Viva Promotions on Thursday night confirmed the unfortunate incident demise of Ardi Ndembo (8-0, 7Kos).

His passing, yet again, emphasizes the hazardous nature of combat sports and the need to ensure maximum protection for all participants.
