Carl Froch has expressed interest in organizing an exhibition fight against former British rival, Joe Calzaghe.
When Froch made his debut in 2002, Calzaghe had already been boxing for nine years and had held the WBO world title for five years. Calzaghe later added the IBF title to his collection before winning the WBA and WBC against Mikkel Kessler - a fighter that Froch later lost to via unanimous decision. Following that win, Calzaghe moved up to light heavyweight to finish his career with wins against Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr.
Froch's career was just beginning when Calzaghe retired in 2008. Froch won the WBC strap that year and would go on to regain it, as well as have a successful run with the WBA and IBF titles. Despite sharing the same belts at different stages in their careers, a fight between the pair has been considered a fantasy for British fans.
However, Froch has suggested that an exhibition fight between the two could be a possibility. He acknowledged that they do not have any significant history, and any animosity between them has been laid to rest. Froch said on his YouTube channel that he would be interested in participating in a "little rumble" if Calzaghe was also interested.
An exhibition fight between Froch and Calzaghe would be a significant event for British boxing fans, as both fighters have a large following. Although an exhibition fight would not count towards their professional records, it would be an opportunity for the two fighters to showcase their skills to their fans once again.
