At the 02 Arena in London, Derek " War" Chisora indeed lived up to his moniker - as he always has ; delivering enthralling slugfests that has made him the toast of fans all career long.
The 40 year old Harare, Zimbabwe native by way of Finchley, London shocked Joe " The Juggernaut " Joyce to win a thrilling all-British heavyweight battle on Saturday night.
‘Del Boy’ gave it his all with an impressive performance in a total war fought in front of a strong pro-Chisora crowd who thronged the venue in solidarity with a man who lived by his "War" mantra and fought his heart out - Always.
Chisora floored the now very much movable " Juggernaut " in the ninth round before taking a deserved unanimous decision win with scores of 96-94, 96-94 and 97-92.
The victory comes in the wake of calls and rumours of imminent retirement for the 40-year-old Chisora, who has had 48 gruelling bouts and has truly taken immense punishment in a career that began in February 2007 against Istvan Kecskes at the Wembley Arena.
He said afterwards that he intends to have two more fights to reach the 50 mark as a professional - starting in Manchester in December.
On his part, Joyce also insisted that he would carry on despite suffering a devastating third defeat from his last four fights : the back to back losses to Zhang crushing what used to be a resolute chin.
The string of losses clearly erases any lingering hopes of Joe Joyce getting back into the world title picture any time soon after a stunning win over Daniel Dubois in November 2020 put in him in pole position for a crack .
