Los Angeles, United States — In the early hours of Tuesday morning, heavyweight boxing superstar Deontay Wilder was taken into custody by Los Angeles police officers after a routine traffic stop.
While driving his Rolls Royce, Wilder was pulled over for having tinted windows and an obstructed license plate. Officers searched the vehicle and found a 9mm handgun and suspected marijuana, leading to Wilder's arrest for alleged concealed weapon possession. TMZ first reported the incident, but Wilder was said to have been polite and cooperative during the procedure.
Wilder has been linked to multiple potential opponents, including former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua, with whom he is rumored to have a showdown in Saudi Arabia in December.
In a video clip that has since gone viral, Joshua confirmed that a bout with Wilder was in the works and revealed that it was scheduled for sometime this year. While reports suggest that the two fighters will do battle in Saudi Arabia, Tyson Fury is also rumored to appear on the same card opposite Oleksandr Usyk.
