Fists Of Carnage Bill Was Historic

Such was the enormity and grandiose nature of the bill that a quartet of giant boxing promotional outfits in Africa had to form a conglomerate for " Fists Of Carnage " to come into fruition.

Led by Alex Ntiamoah's Box Office Boxing Promotions, the bill also had ACE Power Boxing Promotions,Twinstars Boxing Promotions and Aborigines Boxing Promotions coming on board and brainstorming for months put up a mammoth, groundbreaking, record-setting event.

The bill was headlined by the fiercely contested clash between Michael Ansah aka One Bullet and Derrick Quaye nicknamed " Ataa Kwei Jesus " but clearly all the other features could well serve as main events on any other card.

Take for instance, the IBF Continental Africa Super Featherweight championship between Holy Dorgbetor and Tanzanian opponent Hamadi Furahisha, the National Super Lightweight title defense between Samuel Quaye and Daniel Quaye, the WBA Pan African title fight between Delali Miledzi or the international contest between Samuel Martei Laryea and Iddi Kayumba.

Prince Patel against Benjamin Ashley and Africanus Neequaye versus Emmanuel Mensah were equally exciting match ups.

Thus, the card was stacked and the fans thronged the Bukom Boxing Arena in droves.

The venue was packed to the ratfers and there was no standing space.

The show, beamed live on KA Sports Boxing commenced with Yonathan Menachem Landman stopping Habib Lartey in a bantamweight bout.

Michael Pappoe defeated Martin Ahiadekey whiles Robert " Stopper" Quaye knocked out Mohammed Tagoe.

Abubakar Mubarak made quick work of David Okai and Issah Awal fended off a challenge from Odarlai Lamptey.

George Faho Mensah was impressive in his win over Emmanuel Allotey and Emmanuel Quartey easily dispatched Emmanuel Aryee at Super Lightweight.

In the only female bout of the night Abigail Quartey from the Black Panthers Boxing Gym defeated Dansoa Quaye.

Samuel Martei Laryea was clinical in finishing off Iddi Kayumba whiles Holy Dorgbetor showed real power in destroying Hamadi Furahisha to clinch the IBF Continental Africa Super Featherweight championship.

Samuel Quaye successfully defended his national Super Lightweight title against Daniel Quaye and Africanus Neequaye shrugged off a wily Emmanuel Mensah.

The main event however was more of an anticlimax or maybe an upset.

Derrick Quaye put a pummelling on his older and vastly experienced opponent; ending the fight in the second round.

The army of fans who came rooting for Michael Ansah went home hugely disappointed: most of them losing large amounts of money in betting.

In an unexpected turn, British boxer Prince Patel issued a challenge to former IBF World Champion Joshua Clottey, the latter mounted the ring to accept the challenge.

Dignitaries from all divides graced the show which was a truly history-making event.
