Ahead of his fight against the young, hungry Daniel Dubois, concerns have been raised about Oleksandr Usyk’s age and the wear and tear associated with it.
The Ukrainian legend is 38, eleven years older than his opponent; a man he has knocked out in their first meeting.
When Wladimir Klitschko fought Anthony Joshua at age 41, we saw it. The timing, the reflexes, the snap, they were not there when it mattered most. He gave it everything… but father time had already landed the first shot.
Now here we are again.. Oleksandr Usyk, 38 years old, another Ukrainian heavyweight legend… And we are meant to believe age will not matter against a young, hungry Daniel Dubois?
Let’s be real - Usyk’s entire style relies on legs. Movement. Pace. Angles.
Take away just five percent of that footwork and stamina, and he becomes human. Not the elusive, puzzle solving genius we saw against AJ, Bellew and Fury.
Dubois does not need to outbox Usyk.
He just needs to keep the pressure, close the ring, and let time do the rest.
Because at nearly 40, you do not recover like you used to. You slow. You fade… just like Klitschko did in round eleven.
In reality, anyone who comes up against this version of Dubois is in for some real pain; the young man is in devastating form.
But, Usyk is a Cat; he may be able to find a way around.
This might be the night Usyk shows us - like Wlad did - that legends do not lose to opponents… They lose to time.
Can Usyk defy the Age Theory?
Well, let's see!!!
