Shakur Stevenson has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the boxing world, especially in the lightweight division. Despite criticisms over his lack of knockout power, Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) has stood his ground and defeated every opponent he faces.
Stevenson's intimidating resume, however still couldn't scare Jamaine Ortiz away. In fact, if it were solely up to Ortiz, he would gladly take on Stevenson next.
To that, Stevenson in a recent interview revealed that he would like to put Ortiz in his place once and for all and put an end to his crazy talk.
"Jamaine Ortiz talk real crazy. I would want to put him in his place... I would definitely be willing to smoke Jamaine Ortiz. I would beat the f--- out of him. I’m gonna beat him so bad. He don’t understand what he talking himself into," Stevenson told FightHype.com.
In his last fight, Stevenson rose to the occasion to give Japan's Shuichiro Yoshino his first career loss with a sixth-round TKO at the Prudential Center in Newark.
Ortiz is likely to pursue a showdown with Stevenson sooner rather than later. Both Stevenson and Ortiz are promoted by Top Rank with Ortiz scheduled to make his Top Rank debut this Saturday night in New York City which should make this fight fairly easy to make.
