IBF Continental Africa Champ Holy Dorgbetor Breaks Into IBF Ratings

Current IBF Continental Africa Featherweight title holder Holy Dorgbetor has been ranked at Number 11 by the International Boxing Federation in their Intercontinental ratings, a step closer to their world rankings.

The undefeated boxer who made his debut in June 2019, is one spot behind Japan's Kynosuke Kameda who's at No. 10, with Mexico's Christian Cruz Chacon following closely behind Dorgbetor at No. 12. Frank Warren’s Queensberry’s signee Masood Abdullah comes on at number 13.

The red-hot Ghanaian boxer from the Volta Region has been in ravaging form as recent bouts have proven.

On June 15, before a mammoth home crowd at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Dorgbetor- nicknamed the " Jaw Breaker " routed Tanzanian slugger Hamadi Furahisha ( 8-1-1) enroute to a round six technical knockout.

That was preceded by a fierce battle against undefeated Beninois technician, Aliou Clement Loko in February, which ended in a draw.

Among the feats chalked in his career thus far, the former Ghana National featherweight champion also held the UBO Continental title and is the first Ghanaian to hold the IBF Continental Africa title at the featherweight division and the 10th in Africa in the belts history

Now boasting an impressive 11 wins with one draw and 7 knockouts, the ACE Power Promotions signee seems on the threshold of a big break and could find himself in a major world championship bout soon.

" Where Holy is right now, he could be called anytime to fight any of the top rated intercontinental guys who want to move up. We know Dorgbetor is ready mentally to take on the rest of the world. He’s got to be ready physically and we are working nonstop to position him geographically where he would be ready anytime that call comes or when we make the calling.” We just have to be ready! ", Dr. Adae Amoako, CEO of ACE Power Promotions revealed with stern face superimposed on a tiny smile.

Meanwhile a visit to the boxer's training base in Accra known as " The Gym " saw Holy in a rigorous routine under the eagle eyes of trainer Emmanuel Laryea.

Dorgbetor's chances of making it on the global stage are immense; the 25-year-old has age on his side, is a big featherweight and combines a delectable repertoire of skill, high work rate and heart.

Could Holy be Ghana's next world champion?.
