Newark, United States — Jared Anderson proved his mettle once again with a commanding victory over George Arias in the co-main event of the Shakur Stevenson-Shuichiro Yoshino fight. Despite being involved in a minor car accident just a day before the bout, Anderson showed no signs of injury and entered the ring with confidence.
From the start of the fight, Anderson (14-0, 14KOs) established his dominance with a sharp jab that consistently landed on Arias throughout the first round. While Arias (18-1, 7KOs) struggled to find his rhythm and only landed a few punches.
In the second round, Arias became more aggressive, focusing on landing left hooks. However, Anderson remained composed and closed out the round with a right to the head and body of his opponent.
Anderson put his boxing skills on display in the third round, picking up the pace and putting together combinations. He landed a left uppercut that started a flurry of hard shots on Arias, who was forced to clinch to survive. Anderson continued to press the attack, landing punishing blows to the head and body of Arias.
As a result of Anderson's relentless onslaught, Arias walked back to his corner on wobbled legs, pleading with his cornermen to let him continue. However, his coach Leon Washington made the decision to stop the fight.
In his post-fight interview, Anderson exuded confidence, proclaiming himself as the best heavyweight in the world. He credited his easy victory to his tight defense and pinpoint jab, and called out the top fighters in the division, expressing his willingness to take on any challenge.
"I’m nice. I’m the best heavyweight in the world. I don’t give a f*** what nobody is talking about. You hear me? I made that look easy, man, because he helped me make it look easy, man. He wasn’t throwing punches for real. I kept my defense tight. My jab was on point. It was an easy night," he told ESPN’s Bernardo Osuna.
