Jermall Charlo Arrested For DUI And Fleeing Police

Boxing champion Jermall Charlo is in grips following a road collision on Monday evening.

The incident which happened in Texas saw the WBC Middleweight champion being booked on suspicion of three counts of misdemeanor(driving while intoxicated, fleeing a police officer and leaving the scene of a crash), according to reports from the Pearland Police Department.

Charlo was involved in a high speed chase with the cops and found to be heavily inebriated upon the arrest .

Initial attempts to solicit a reaction from the boxer's Houston area attorney and World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman proved futile.

The 33 year old Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs) has done just one title defense in three years and this layoff might have had some grave effects on him as he admitted to depression struggles during that period.

Jermall had been considered by Canelo Alvarez for an undisputed clash months ago, but negotiations stalled and although WBC has been petitioned severally to strip Jermall, twin brother of Jermell Charlo,  for inactivity, the sanctioning body has stood firm behind him.

Charlo's red Lamborghini reportedly collided with another vehicle, an argument then ensued between the drivers, following which Charlo left the scene in his vehicle before being apprehended at a red light about a mile away.

  Further investigations are ongoing.
