Joseph Parker Tested Positive For Cocaine For Wardley Bout

In some rather surprising news for a longtime fighter who’s been held in high regard as a professional, ESPN is reporting that Queensberry Promotions has confirmed Joseph Parker tested positive for a banned substance on the day of his fight against Fabio Wardley, October 25. The Sun has reported that Parker tested positive for cocaine, although ESPN is clear to mention that it has not been confirmed at this time.

“The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association [VADA] last night informed all required parties that Joseph Parker returned an adverse finding following an anti-doping test conducted on 25 October in relation to his bout with Fabio Wardley,” Queensberry said in a statement on Friday.

Parker would lose to Wardley last month in the eleventh round in a tremendous fight, when Wardley would unload punches that caused the referee to step in to wave off the fight, even if some disputed the referee’s decision following the fight.

While Parker has yet to make any substantive comments on the subject just yet, it’s certainly a bad look and stain on a fighter who’s been held in high regard.
