Light-heavyweight prospect Khalil Coe did a quick one on Kwame Ritter (11-2, 9 KOs); knocking him out in the second round and winning the USWBC light-heavyweight title on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Khalil Coe showed immense speed, power, and an even impressive punch output.
In a bid to prove he actually belongs, Coe clearly demonstrated that Ritter was not on his level and was firmly in control right from the opening bell.
Baltimore based Ritter, 33, was game on the night and endured a pummelling but eventually had to succumb.
The 27-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey native Khalil Coe (9-0-1, 7 KOs) was participating in his first ten round fight.
The victory over Ritter pushes Coe’s current streak to five consecutive knockout wins.
Moments after his impressive showing, Khalil Coe made clear his target looking into the future. He didn’t mince words but quickly called out undefeated contender in the light-heavyweight division Joshua Buatsi.
“Joshua Buatsi, whenever you get finished with that Willy Hutchinson smoke, you need to come holla at me,” said Khalil Coe during his post-fight interview.
Joshua Buatsi ( 18-0, 13KOs) , a Ghanaian-born British fighter is scheduled to fight Willy Hutchinson(18-1,13KOs) on September 21 at the Wembley Stadium in London for the WBO Interim Light Heavyweight title.
The event is promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing and Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions.
