Lomachenko: I Exposed Haney, He Knows His Level

Despite the turnout of events at Lomachenko's clash with Haney, Loma believes he thought Haney a great lesson and put him in his place.

Deep within, the 24-year-old was aware that his validation hinged on Vasiliy Lomachenko. Driven by the desire to prove himself as the division's top contender, Haney and Lomachenko engaged in numerous negotiations until they reached a satisfactory fight agreement.

On May 20th, amidst a packed crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, the two fighters traded blows. After twelve closely contested rounds, Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) anxiously awaited the judges' scorecards. While the decision was close and somewhat controversial, he triumphantly raised his fist in the air and let out a victorious scream as he was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

Lomachenko, stoic and in utter disbelief, shook his head disapprovingly. Despite numerous analysts and fighters aligning themselves with the Ukrainian, Haney seems determined to forge ahead with his career.

Among the many options available to him, Gervonta Davis has emerged as a prominent contender. Despite Team Davis openly challenging Haney, Lomachenko believes that he exposed Haney to some extent, making it highly unlikely for a Davis fight to materialize.

"It’s never happen. Because now he understands his skills, he understands his level." Lomachenko declared to ESNEWS.

Over the past few months, Davis has vowed to silence all his critics, including Haney. In his most recent appearance, he convincingly defeated his long-time rival Ryan Garcia, stopping him in the sixth round of their bout.

While there are significant fights awaiting Haney in the lightweight division, his time there may be short-lived. Although Haney acknowledges the challenges of cutting weight and making the required limit, he revealed his willingness to extend his stay at lightweight if a showdown with Davis were even remotely possible.
