Turki Alalshikh has made great strides in boxing since emerging on the front line. The progenitor of the Riyadh Season franchise has struck gold as he is set to partner the World Boxing Council in an audacious agenda.
The WBC and Turki Alalshikh announced the WBC Grand Prix of Boxing at the 62nd annual World Boxing Council Convention today.
The Grand Prix will be a World Cup of the sport, a tournament featuring 128 prospects across four weight classes (featherweight, junior welterweight, middleweight and heavyweight).
The entrants will be no older than 26 and have no more than 10 fights to their name. The tournament will start in February and feature quarterfinals and semifinals over eight rounds, with the 10-round finals to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Considering the legacy of the WBC and the meticulous attitude Turki Alalshikh attaches to his business, this tournament should be a solid one .
