Reports are rife concerning former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, who turns 58 in June, suffering a "medical emergency" during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.
Tyson’s representatives have confirmed that he became nauseous and dizzy on Sunday while on the flight.
The flight had already delayed by two hours due to the heat.
Paramedics rushed on board the plane to treat Tyson upon its landing in Los Angeles.
“Thankfully, Mr. Tyson is doing great,” a representative told the New York Post. “He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing at LAX.
“He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”
Tyson is due to fight Jake Paul on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in a proper professional bout: results of which would reflect on both fighters' records.
Tyson is believed to have stopped his daily use of marijuana while training for the contest as the drug is banned in Texas.
The fight is scheduled for eight two-minute rounds.
Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) took on Roy Jones Jnr in an exhibition in 2020, but the last time he fought professionally was in June 2005 when he was stopped in six rounds by Kevin McBride.
It seems unlikely that the bout against Jake Paul would be called off resulting from this incident.
Whatever happens, the boxing legend's safety and reputation ought to be prioritised above all else.
