More Trouble For Ryan Garcia: Boxer Arrested For Felony Vandalism

Ryan Garcia on Saturday afternoon has been nabbed on suspicion of felony vandalism at the Beverly Hills Waldorf Astoria.

Video of a shirtless Garcia being taken into custody in handcuffs was posted.

Law enforcement sources made it clear that they apprehended the boxer for allegedly damaging property in his hotel room and a hallway.

In the footage, Garcia’s head was shielded by a helmet .

Guadalupe Valencia, Garcia's manager stated that he was crafting a news release responding to the arrest, "We don’t have all the information yet,” Valencia wrote.

The news conference for the Ryan Garcia-Gervonta Davis mega fight last year was staged next to the Waldorf Astoria.

Currently at 25, Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) has had mixed fortunes this year; success tainted by controversy - exhibiting odd traits prior to his dominant three-knockdown majority decision victory over then-undefeated WBC lightweight and former undisputed Lightweight champion Devin Haney on April 20 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

That impressive showing was albeit tainted somewhat, by Garcia weighing more than three pounds over the stipulated 140-pound limit, depriving him of the belt, and even worse when submitted two positive pre-fight drug tests for the banned performance-enhancing substance ostarine, confirmed by “B” sample positives.

Garcia has come out to deny the result of the findings; stating that he was innocent of wrongdoing.

The New York State Athletic Commission is yet to determine whether to suspend and fine Garcia and it could also change his victory to a no-contest or label it a loss by disqualifying him, as Haney’s attorney has requested for making a “mockery” of boxing rules.

Earlier Saturday, Garcia called out his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy, and streaming partner DAZN, for not paying him his full cut from the Haney bout.

Garcia was alleged to have been “seemingly under the influence” but complied peacefully with law enforcement.
