Naoya Inoue Devours Luis Nery In Six

In another thrilling and riveting display, Naoya Inoue dispatched Luis ( Pantera) Nery in round six of the scheduled twelve.

The Mexican southpaw from Tijuana, ahead of the fight, had encored upset themes; citing Buster Douglas against Tyson at the same venue, but in the end the "Monster " came through relatively unscathed: undefeated and undisputed.

Luis Nery definitely came in, prepared to play the villain role and spoil the party; the hard-as-nails slugger dropped Inoue in the opening round with a looping left when the Japanese opened himself up in an attempt to land a right hook in close combat.

That knockdown, the first in Inoue's career obviously awakened the monster in him as he returned the favor in round two with a counter right as Nery, now ( 35-2, 26 Kos) rushed in with reckless abandon.

From then on, it was more of a beat down: a mauling of "monstrous " proportions. Inoue continued to stun his rather game opponent with accuracy and power until Nery slumped down the canvas in round six, having endured enough of the battering.

The crowd at the Tokyo Dome was ever ecstatic as Naoya Inoue (26-0) remains undisputed at Junior Featherweight ( 122 lbs).

There have been calls for Naoya to fight more outside Japan and possibly move to 126, which is very likely: a clash with Juno Nakatani is also in play.

The much broached move up to Lightweight to challenge Gervonta Davis ought to be shelved considering the fact that Nery with his size put Inoue on the mat.

But regardless what he decides to do going forward, Naoya Inoue is a class act and has cemented his spot in the P4P considerations.
