Predictions Tilt In Fury's Favour As Usyk Clash Nears

"Gypsy King" Tyson Fury engages former undisputed Cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk on May 18 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.

The bill promoted by Bob Arum's Top Rank and Frank Warren's Queensberry the undisputed match up for all the marbles in boxing's blue ribbon division: The Heavyweight Division.

The bout has lingered a few times owing partly to Fury's theatrics and pretty obvious schemings.

This made many boxing fans to assume that the WBC Champion was scared of fighting his Ukrainian counterpart. The evidence of Fury's initial ducking was glaring: clear as daylight.

The perception was further fuelled when Tyson claimed an injury in sparring to have the scheduled bout postponed.

Even his core followers began to doubt their " King".

Many wondered: " Why would a man who came out of hibernation to face the dreaded Wilder, arguably the hardest hitting Heavyweight, be scared of a fighter who has moved up from Cruiserweight ?"

But as the day of reckoning beckons, opinions are shifting ; many suggesting a win for Fury, and maybe rightly so - probably buying in to the cliché : A good big man beats a good small man... every time.

In a recent turn, most connoisseurs and fans now, heavily tip Fury (34-0-1) to emerge tops, giving very little chance to Usyk: quickly overlooking his somewhat poor showing against Ngannou where he was knocked down by a debutant.

Perhaps that body shot ( or maybe low blow) which Dubois delivered to Usyk in their bout has proved the tonic for the assumption that Fury would carry the day.

Well from history, the last time an undisputed cruiserweight challenged for undisputed at Heavyweight: Lewis vrs Holyfield, the bigger, natural Heavyweight won.

Granted, there's no way Usyk bulldozes Fury, neither can he outbox Fury.

The 6ft9 juggernaut is light on his feet and with great hand speed - quite unbelievable for a boxer his size; he's got all the tools that Usyk is reputed for and more.

If he can rear up the power which saw him brutalising Deontay Wilder on two occasions - in their second and third bouts, then a possible massacre awaits us in May.

The odds could be against him, but trust the usually calm and amazingly humorous Usyk (21-0-0) to find a way out, as he always does.

We've not had an undisputed Heavyweight Champ for a while, hence, the boxing world definitely has Turki Alalshikh to thank for this huge bout getting made.

In a battle between two undefeated men, who have high respect for each other, may the better boxer win.

The ultimate winner, in my opinion, is the boxing fan.
