Reports: Alycia Baumgardner Gets Revenge Against Linardatou On July 15

Alycia Baumgardner is gearing up for a revenge tour in her hometown of Detroit. According to BoxingScene.com, plans are underway for Baumgardner, the undisputed junior lightweight champion, to defend her title against Christina Linardatou on July 15th in Detroit.

Baumgardner and Linardatou have a history with Linardatou being the only fighter to have defeated Baumgardner in her pro career. Although the rematch is not yet confirmed, reports suggest that it is the leading plan for a DAZN show.

Richardson Hitchins according to the report is also expected to feature on the card, potentially facing Montana Love in a junior welterweight bout. Baumgardner and Hitchins are confirmed to appear on the show, but their opponents, Linardatou and Love will depend on their acceptance of the proposed matchups.

Linardatou became available for this potential rematch after a planned April 15th bout against Mikaela Mayer fell through due to a medical decline. The British Boxing Board of Control refused to grant Linardatou a license because of a permanent lens in her eye. This change in her medical status opened the door for a showdown with Baumgardner.

Since their initial meeting in July 2018, where Baumgardner suffered a split decision defeat, she has experienced a remarkable turnaround. Baumgardner revamped her team and signed with King's Promotions. She has since claimed the unified 130-pound championship and emerged as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters. Her most significant victory came in November 2021 when she knocked out Terri Harper to win the WBC junior lightweight title.

As Baumgardner prepares for her potential rematch, she will also be ringside this weekend for Katie Taylor's challenge against undisputed 140-pound champion Chantelle Cameron in Dublin, Ireland. Baumgardner is considered one of the lucrative future options for Taylor in the junior welterweight division.
