Ryan Garcia Ends Partnership With Trainer Joe Goosen

Following his loss to Gervonta Davis on April 22nd, Ryan Garcia has ended his partnership with trainer Joe Goosen. The 24-year-old boxer has not made any public statement about the split, but it's possible that he was dissatisfied with the instructions he received from Goosen during the fight. According to Mike Coppinger of ESPN, Goosen was only with Garcia for one fight and had little time to make any lasting improvements to his fighting style, which has been criticized for its flaws.

Some boxing fans on social media have noted that Goosen was not present during Garcia's post-fight press conference. Whether this was intentional or not is unclear.

The important question now is who will be Garcia's next coach. He could return to his former trainer Eddy Reynoso, who currently trains superstar Canelo Alvarez, but it's believed that Garcia didn't put in the work or listen to Reynoso's instructions during their failed partnership.

Calvin Ford, Gervonta Davis' trainer, has offered to take over as Garcia's new coach, but it's unclear whether Garcia would be willing to work with Ford, as they come from different backgrounds and Ford wouldn't tolerate Garcia's slacker attitude or his preening on social media.

No decision has been made on Garcia's next trainer, but he will be competing at 140 pounds for his next fight. Despite the commercial success of Garcia's PPV event against Davis, his decision to go up against the more experienced Davis' offense may have ultimately led to his knockout.
