Hard hitting super bantamweight contender Samuel Martei Laryea crushed Tanzania's Iddi Kayumba in four of the scheduled eight round contest on Saturday night.
In front of a sea of supporters at the Bukom Boxing Arena on the Fists Of Carnage bill , Laryea, currently in top form, showed blistering hand speed and concussive power.
Kayumba looked stunned in the opening round as Laryea went to work with accurate shots to the head and body of his foe.
Laryea dropped Kayumba multiple times as the rounds wore on.
A hard right to the chin sent Kayumba tumbling on the canvas and the fight was waved off by referee David Nettey in 1:35 of the fourth round.
With the victory Laryea improves to 6-1-1.
This win over Kayumba proves to be even more impressive compared to his ninth round stoppage of Vandorf Okrah in March 2023.
An elated Laryea was grateful to his trainer George Smart Abbey of the Accra Boxing Club and manager Dr. Adae Opoku Amoako of ACE Power Boxing Management And Promotions. He revealed that his next bout is likely to be a championship bout.
Martei Laryea has seen tremendous improvement since suffering his sole career loss to Klakevi in March 2023.
The 24 year old Dansoman based boxer has adopted a more aggressive approach to his game and is an inexorable force to reckon with in the stacked super bantamweight class.
