Three European Super Heavyweights Advance To Quarter Finals At Paris Olympics

Nine European boxers who participated at the Paris Olympics in +92 kg weight category were in action yesterday.

Five of them won their contests in the ๐€๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐š ๐๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐, and moved to the last eight phase. 23-year-old Italian, ๐ƒ๐ข๐ž๐ ๐จ ๐‹๐ž๐ง๐ณ๐ข, defeated Joshua Edwards from the USA by split decision. In the quarterfinals he will face strong German ๐๐ž๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ข๐ž ๐‘๐š๐ฆ๐š๐ง ๐“๐ข๐š๐Ÿ๐š๐œ๐ค, who was better than Abdullayev from Azerbaijan.

 

European super heavyweights who are now in quarterfinals are: ๐€๐›๐จ๐ฎ๐๐จ๐ฎ ๐ƒ๐ฃ๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข-๐ƒ๐ข๐ง๐ข from France, ๐€๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐› ๐†๐ก๐š๐๐Ÿ๐š from Spain and ๐ƒ๐š๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ๐š๐ง from Armenia.

 

Besides super heavyweights, boxers competing in the light welterweight division were also in the ring yesterday. Radoslav Rosenov from Bulgaria and Malik Hasanov from Azerbaijan have lost their bouts, while ๐‘๐ข๐œ๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ ๐Š๐จ๐ฏ๐š๐œ๐ฌ from Hungary, ๐’๐จ๐Ÿ๐ข๐š๐ง๐ž ๐Ž๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ข๐ก๐š from France and ๐‹๐š๐ฌ๐ก๐š ๐†๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ข from Georgia have won, and placed themselves into quarterfinals.

60 kg women boxers also fought in round of 16. Olympic champion ๐Š๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ž ๐‡๐š๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐จ๐ง from Ireland defeated Alessia Mesiano from Italy, and European champion ๐๐š๐ญ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐š ๐’๐ก๐š๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐š from Serbia was better than Dounia Khelif from Algeria. 25-year-old lightweight from Netherlands, ๐‚๐ก๐ž๐ฅ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฒ ๐‡๐ž๐ข๐ฃ๐ง๐ž๐ง, defeated Won Ungyong from North Korea. Heijnen will box her next match against strong Brazilian Beatriz Ferreira.

 

Today’s programme starts at 11am. Men’s boxers will compete in 51 kg and 80 kg, while the women’s boxers will fight in 54 kg and 57 kg weight categories.
