The purported bout between boxing legend " Iron " Mike Tyson and " The Problem Child" Jake Paul is now officially a professional bout.
The Texas Boxing Commission confirms that the bout would be officially sanctioned as a professional fight hence the results will be placed on both men's official professional boxing records.
With this development, there'll be mandatory drug testing, 10oz gloves, and no head guards for the bout set to take place at the AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, on July 20.
It would be on the Amanda Serrano - Katie Taylor bill promoted by Bryce Holden ( Holden Boxing).
Brooklyn-born Tyson (50-6, 44Kos) last fought professionally in June 2005, losing to Kevin McBride, but was involved in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jnr dubbed " The Lockdown Knockdown " in November 2020.
After losing via Split decision to Tommy Fury at the Diriyah Arena last year, Jake Paul ( 9-1) has come back with three wins two of which he ended in round one.
The 27-year-old would relish having a win against Mike Tyson on his resumè.
But sometimes, in life, we ought to be careful what we wish for: Iron Mike even at his current age is still dangerous in that ring.
