Sad sad news: UGANDAN TOP BOXER KANABI ALEX IS DEAD
Uganda's Africa Zone 3 light-middleweight bronze medallist Kanabi Alex has died from unclear circumstances.
Multiple sources including coach Don Rama of Lukanga Boxing Club confirmed his death on Thursday at around 3am.
A prominent Ugandan Sports Journalist who spoke to Kanabi's mum told boxersworld.co.ke it's suspected Kanabi was poisoned but it has not been officially confirmed. Investigations are ongoing.
Kanabi won a bronze medal in the Africa Zone 3 Boxing Championships last year at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi, Kenya.
He was stopped in the first round by Kenya's captain Boniface Mogunde. Kanabi outpointed Ethiopia's Mesfin Gebre Yohannes in the quarter-finals.
